Changes to City Services and Paid Leave in Response to COVID-19

In light of the current COVID-19 concerns, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is announcing additional steps to protect the health of City employees at work and in the event that they cannot work. The guidance includes the following:

• The public will be able to access City services online and via telephone.
• Most public visitor services such as walk-up counters and community centers will be closing their public visitor access as of midnight Tuesday of this week, with a few exceptions. Public visitors will be allowed at the Clerk’s Office which is a critical early voting location, Police District Stations, and the City Treasurer’s Office.
• Metro bus service is continuing with reduced operating and service levels. More details will be available soon.
• City employees will continue to work, and many will be allowed to telework.
• All City employees will be granted two weeks of Emergency Leave time for COVID-related absences. All City employees will also be able to borrow against sick-leave balances that are expected to accrue over the course of 2020 to help ensure that COVID-related absences do not result in a loss of pay.
