Parking Division to Test New Meter Payment Equipment

posted

Beginning October 2, the City of Madison Parking Division will test new parking space signage and payment equipment on the blocks of 300 N Henry and 200 W Gorham. These new features, installed earlier in the week, will test new payment kiosks, pay-by-app (Park Smarter™), and pay-by-text options currently available citywide for all other metered parking spaces.

Park Smarter™ is a pay-by-cell application that provides an additional, convenient, contact-less payment option for smart phone users at all IPS meters and pay stations. Mobile payments, via the app, can be made up to the maximum time the meter allows. Payment information, use and receipts are all available through the applications interface.

Text-to-Pay™ customers will text a zone number listed on the meter, input their space number, choose the desired time, and make their payment instantly. This option provides the convenience of paying remotely without having to download another app.

Sign near metered spaces to guide customers to payment options: Pay-by-App, Pay-by-text, or by using the kiosk.

Details:

Parking in this area will require patrons to enter a designated parking zone

  • The zone will appear on the space number signage for each parking space.
  • The zone and space number will also appear in the ParkSmarter™ app.

Payment kiosks will be available on W Gorham and N Henry for customers paying with a credit card or coins.
