Do you love kids, but not their messes? Volunteer at the Madison Senior Center once a month guiding preschoolers in a craft project. We do the planning, provide the supplies, and the mess stays here.
Edgewood Nursing Program
During the fall and spring semesters, Edgewood College Nursing students meet with senior volunteers once a month to practice patient interaction. Check the Calendar for the upcoming dates and times.
Do you like to perform, but not have the time for a band or long term commitment? We have a number of opportunities for volunteers to play ambiance music for special events throughout the year. We have pianos on site, but welcome other instruments as well.
The Madison Senior Center needs a hairstylist to cut the hair of active seniors. We would like to offer free haircuts for people age 55 and older that might not be able to afford or travel far. We are looking for someone once a month for 2–3 hours, between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. Volunteers could keep any tips they might receive.
We would like someone that has experience as a professional hairstylist.
Nutrition Site - Kitchen and Serving
Meet "regulars" at the Madison Senior Center Nutrition Site by helping out Thursday mornings, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Make some new friends while helping serve the meal and then assist with clearing and clean-up. Join a friendly, warm environment and gain lots of one-on-one contact with other servers and regular attendees.
RESTRICTIONS: Volunteer needs to be ambulatory, able to stand and serve plates, use cart to serve plates to seated participants, clear tables, rinse large pans in deep sinks. Needs to be able to follow clear oral or written instructions with no need for one on one supervision. We prefer this position to be a weekly commitment for a minimum of two months.
