Madison in Motion

Madison in Motion Logo

Madison in Motion, the City of Madison's Sustainable Madison Transportation Master Plan, was approved by the Common Council on February 28, 2017.  The plan takes a comprehensive look at the City's transportation system and recommends short and long-term strategies for enhancing pedestrian and bike infrastructure, improving transit serve and improving roadway efficiency and safety.  The approved documents are available at the bottom of this page.

Project Goals:

Madison in Motion contained eight primary goals, addressing major considerations such as transportation options, equity, sustainability and economic development.

Strategies:

Several strategies are contained in Madison in Motion to help build a city that meets the eight primary goals.  Building and maintaining comfortable pedestrian and bike facilities, improved transit service, complete streets and coordinated land use and transportation planning are the major themes and multiple recommendations are made for each theme.
