Pay Your Property Tax Bill

We will process all tax payments postmarked on or before December 31, 2019 as having been paid in 2019.

Real Estate taxes can be paid in full by January 31 or can be paid in four installments: January 31, March 31, May 31 and July 31 to the City. (Because May 31st falls on a Sunday, payments made on Monday, June 1st, will be considered timely.)

The City of Madison will not be charging interest or late fees on property tax payments that are due April 1, 2020 – October 1, 2020. Interest and late fees will go back into effect starting October 1, 2020, and will still be charged for any late payments that were due before April 1, 2020.

This is provided by 2019 Wisconsin Act 185, which allows for a general finding of hardship by the City of Madison.
