Celebrate the return of spring and the promise of many fun-filled days of biking by participating in the first annual Bike Madison Spring Fair. The Bike Madison Spring Fair is an opportunity to get ready for spring by learning or refreshing your skills with workshops such as Bike Maintenance 101, Bike Commuter 101 and many more.

The Bike Madison Spring Fair will feature MSCR kids' activities, a chance to try out Metro Transit's Rack-n-Roll program, or go on a Madison Police Department Bike Tour. The Bike Spring Madison Fair is a FREE family event. City of Madison, MSCR, PHMDC
  • Madison School & Community Recreation Family Fun Activities - All Day!
  • Madison Police Department South District Bike Tours at 1p.m. and 2 p.m.: Each ride will be approximately 45 minutes long. You will be required to wear a helmet to participate in the ride.
  • Planet Trek Dane County information and Bike Tour at 1:00p.m.: Information and maps will be available for Planet Trek Dane County, a scale model of the solar system along the bike path from Monona Terrace to Mt. Horeb. We will also have a group ride leaving at 1:00 to make a loop from the Sun (Monona Terrace) to Jupiter and back to Wright Middle School.
  • Metro Transit Rack-n-Roll Program: Learn how to use the bike racks before you travel. Ask questions and practice on a Metro bike rack.
  • Madison Police Department Central District Biking at Night: Learn how to stay visible and bike safely at night.
  • Bicycle Registration: A Four-Year Bicycle Registration costs only $10.00 and is a good way to help protect your important means of transportation, recreation and exercise!
  • Madison Police Hula Hoop Making: Who doesn't like a hula hoop? Madison Police Officers will be on hand to help you make your very own hula hoop.
  • City bike initiatives: The City's Bike Madison staff will share the exciting bike planning initiatives occurring in Madison. Pick up a 2011 Bike Map.
  • Local bike advocacy groups: 20by2020, Wheels for Winners, Freewheel, and the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin will be on hand to talk about their programs and events.
  • Transporting children by bike demo by Williamson Bicycle Works: Children of pre-cycling age will still love traveling by bicycle – there are different solutions for different ages.
  • Dream Bikes Works: Check to make sure your child's bike is roadworthy and is the right fit.
  • American Diabetes Association: Madison Tour De Cure has a 100K, 50K, 25K and four-mile family fun ride. Find out more about the ride.
  • Red Tricycle Ice Cream Company: Purchase a locally made ice cream sandwich or bar from the Sassy Cow Creamery. Check out the vintage, restored 1950's era Worksman cargo tricycle.

  • 11:30a.m. and 12p.m., Bicycle Maintenance Q&A with Dream Bikes: Learn how to take the front wheel on and off and how to properly adjust the wheel quick release.
  • 11:30a.m. - 12p.m., Beginning Bicycling: Getting started bicycling, choosing equipment, where to ride, carrying things on your bike, and having fun!
  • 12p.m. - 12:30p.m., How Children See Traffic: Children act differently in traffic than adults. Discover the 10 ways to help your children become safer pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • 12:30p.m. and 1pm: Kids Fix a Flat: Kids learn how to fix a flat with Dream Bikes staff.
  • 1p.m.-1:30p.m., Rules of the Road: Understanding a few basic concepts can go a long way towards reducing the conflicts between motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
  • 1p.m. and 2p.m., How to Fix a Flat Demonstration (adults): Learn how to change a flat with a step-by-step presentation. (30 minute sessions)
  • 1p.m. and 2p.m., Bicycle Skills Course: Kids go through a series of stations to learn some basics of riding safely. (30 minute sessions)
  • 1:30p.m.-2p.m., Bike Commuter 101: Commuting by bike is often the quickest and most efficient mode of travel for trips of five miles or less. Biking to and from work or school is not only a healthy way to get exercise, but also a great way to save gas money and wear and tear on your car!
  • 1:30p.m. and 2:30p.m., Bicycle Maintenance Q&A with India Viola: Learn how to take off the front wheel on and off and how to properly adjust the wheel quick release. (30 minute sessions)
  • All Day, Easy to Load, Simple to Use demo by Saris Cycling Group: Find out how easy it is to load your bike on a trunk or hitch rack. All demos will be done on Saris racks mounted on the backs of Madison Police squad cars!
