Over the last 10 days we have seen 3 theft of catalytic converters. All three of these thefts have occurred south of Aberg Ave and west of Packers Ave. Other areas of the CIty have seen similar issues, with most of the thefts occurring late Wednesday night into early Sunday morning, during hours of darkness. One of the telltale signs reported by witnesses, was the sound of the grinder that is used to cut the catalytic converter from the car.
These thefts can occur very quickly and it is common for more than one person to be involved. Often, one person is dropped off, while one or two others remain in the getaway car watching and waiting while the catalytic converter is cut off. We have some video of potential suspects and are asking folks to call if they see or hear anything suspicious, especially in those late night/early morning hours.
