City-Led Development

Most of the development you see across Madison is done by private businesses, but the City of Madison does get involved in some projects. Sometimes, the City and its agencies, like the Community Development Authority, may act as the developer of a space when the development is occurring on City-owned land. Other times, city involvement may come in the form of affordable housing loans or Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for projects that would not be able to proceed without assistance.

These are some of the current City-led developments involving the Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development.
