N Bassett Street between Dayton St and West Washington Ave

Capital City Path - Blount St Cycle Track and Crossing
As part of the reconstruction of E. Wilson St., Williamson St. and S Blount St a new cycle track will be built along S Blout St with a separate sidewalk for pedestrians. A new signal at S Blount St. will be installed to allow bicyclists to cross and continue along the Capital City Path along Lake Monona. Project Information
E Johnson St. - Baldwin St. to First St.
This project includes bicycle crossing improvements and new 10-foot wide multi-use path along the south side of East Johnson Street from the Yahara River through North First Street (STH 113). Project Map
Portage Road - Hayes to Di Loreto
New bike lanes will be added to this section up to the boundary with the Town of Burke. A neighborhood path linking Portage, Hayes and Di Loreto will also be constructed.
County Highway M
This project on the far west side of Madison includes new bike path including a connection to the Ice Age Junction Path, underpasses and other bicycle/pedestrian improvements. Project Information.
N Bassett St - W Dayton St to W Washington Ave
N Bassett St will be closing to through traffic starting Aug 22. Part of this project will construct a parking protected bike lane. The bike lane will be adjacent to the curb, and the parking lane will be relocated to between the bike lane and travel lane. The bike lane and parking lane will be separated by a 2 ft buffer and plastic delineators. This will be a test of this type of bike facility. Project Information
N Henry St - W Johnson St and W Dayton St
N Henry St will be closed between W Johnson and W Dayton St from 9am to 3pm on Mon, Aug 26 and Tues, Aug 27 for underground utility work. The sidewalk adjacent to the Overture Center will remain open at all times. Bicyclists can use N Broom St or use W Mifflin St to State St to avoid this area.
E Johnson St at Baldwin
E Johnson at Baldwin St is impacted by work on underground utilities at the intersection. The bicycle lane has a marked detour at that intersection. Please follow the signs. The construction is expected to last through Fri, Aug 30.
Capital City Path at Williamson - Wilson - Blair
The Machinery Row Path and the Capital City Path are both open. Work continues to finish signing, marking and tree installation. The asphalt needs to sit for 20 days before the green marking is added to the new Blount St crossing. The bicycle signal for the Blount St crossing is not yet installed but will be added later in August. Wayfinding signs are also planned for installation to replace the green Bike Route signs. E Johnson St
The Yahara River Path between 1st St and Fordem Ave will be detoured onto a lane of E Johnson St starting approximately Aug 20. The lane will be marked off for bikes and pedestrians and barrels will be used to protect the lane from motor vehicle traffic. In addition, the south sidewalk from Fordem to the Yahara River remains closed. Phase 1.5 Map
Greentree-Chapel Hills Park Path
As a part of the McKenna Blvd Flood Mitigation Project the path through the Greentree-Chapel Hills Park is closed. This path provides a route from Elver Park to Schroeder Rd and Chapel Hill Rd. A marked detour will be in place and will use neighborhood streets except for a small section on Hammersley Rd. Project Information
Bluff St at Blackhawk Ave
This intersection is anticipated to be paved August 26. The road will be open but there may be delays and flaggers directing traffic. As a part of this project Blackhawk Ave will be reconstructed with four speed humps. Project Information
Construction has begun on Portage Rd from Hayes to Di Loreto. Bicyclists may want to use Bellgrove Lane to avoid this area. This project will add bike lanes to this section of the road and will also build a neighborhood path.
Koster St and N Rusk Ave Reconstruction
Construction began July 1 and Koster St and N Rusk is closed to through traffic. The Quann Park Pth at Bram St will not be impacted. Project Information
Davidson St - Drexel Ave - Lake Edge Blvd
Road is open to local traffic only. Davidson St work will be from Drexel Ave to Maher Ave. Drexel Ave work will be from Davidson St to Lake Edge Blvd. Lake Edge Blvd work will be from Major Ave to Maher Ave. Project Information
Construction has started on Oak St and is expected to be completed Sept 30. Oak St is open to local traffic only. Project Information
Buckeye Rd is currently closed to traffic between Monona Dr and the S Stoughton Rd Service Rd for street reconstruction. The closure will last though November 2019. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained across Buckeye Rd at Lakeview Ave to accommodate the Lake Loop. Project Information
South Park St
Work is taking place at the Park St/Badger Rd intersection. The contractor will be closing northbound lanes of Park St in the Badger Rd intersection Aug 24 & 25. One lane will remain open on northbound Park St and westbound Badger Rd. Eastbound Badger Rd will have only one turn lane to northbound Park St and one through lane. Construction in this intersection will take place over four weekends. Phase III (Badger Rd to RR) will be under construction until Oct 15. Cyclists may want to use Cypress Way, Dane St and Beld St.to reach the Wingra Creek Path in the Phase 3 area. You can also cross at the Villager and Buick St using a traffic signal to reach Taft and Fisher to connect to the Wingra Creek Path. Project Information
South Point Road
Construction is happening on South Point Rd between Harvest Moon Ln and Tawny Acorn Dr. The road will remain open to through traffic but during the day the contractor may reduce traffic to one lane and flag traffic through the work zone. Project Information.
Mifflin St and Bassett St
Construction has closed W Mifflin St at N Bassett St to install utilities. Project Map

E Main St Closure
The 700 block of E Main St (Blount to Livingston) is closed for up to 2 months for fire cleanup at the Blount substation. The closure is needed to provide stating for equipment and tanks needed to handle the hazardous waste removal. Please detour using Blount or Livingston to reach the Capital City Path.
- The UW has a number of ongoing construction projects affecting bicycle routes. The northbound lane of Charter St from University Ave to Observatory Dr is expected to reopen by Aug 23. Linden Dr between Babcock Dr and Henry Mall has reopened.
