Blount St Bicycle Signal
The new Capital City Path crossing at Blount St is anticipated to open sometime during the week of Oct 21. Bicyclists on the Capital City Path will now be able to cross at Blount St instead of making the two stage crossing of Williamson St at the intersection with John Nolen Dr, Blair St and Wilson St. Bicyclists headed west should turn onto the new Blount St cycletrack to reach the bicycle signal. Bicyclists traveling east should stay on the path in front of the Machinery Row building until they reach the signal at Blount St.
As a part of this project an Accessible Pedestrian Signal has also been added at Blount St. Currently the push-buttons for both the APS and the bicycle signal are located on a pole back about 10 feet from the intersection. The City is piloting this location for the push-buttons and may make changes in signage, marking or the pole location in the future as needed.
Please use caution when you bike and walkthrough this area as both bicyclists and pedestrians become accustomed to the new travel patterns at this crossing.
