City of Madison Closes Non-Essential Services for Friday, January 12th and Saturday, January 13th
postedIt has been forecasted that there will be heavy snowfall and strong blowing snow conditions starting early Friday morning and continuing through Saturday. As a result, all non-essential, in-person city services will be temporarily suspended on Friday, January 12, and Saturday, January 13. Please note that emergency services, including the Madison Police and Fire Departments, will not be affected by this closure. While Metro Transit is expected to operate its regular schedule, riders should anticipate delays due to the inclement weather.
Remote and online services, such as online permitting, will continue to be offered during this time, and all services and departments will be accessible via phone and/or email. City facilities will not be open to the public for in-person service.
The Madison Streets Division will persist in carrying out snow plowing and other relevant operations to keep the city's roads and sidewalks accessible to the public. In case of any emergencies, Madison Police, Fire, and Streets Division will closely collaborate with Dane County Emergency Management to ensure a swift response and effective management of the situation. Rest assured that the authorities are constantly monitoring the conditions throughout the weather event to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
Madison Public Libraries are expected to resume their in-person operations on Sunday, January 14. Following the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, city offices will reopen for in-person services on Tuesday. If there are any changes in the weather conditions on Sunday, we will keep you informed and provide additional closure notices if necessary.
