Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

  • Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place in virtual format on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 4:30 PM. Agenda items include dissolving TID 39 (Stoughton Road), authorizing funds to support rental assistance and support services for residents living at 7933 Tree Lane and 715 Rethke Avenue, and authorizing the execution of an amendment to a Purchase and Sale Agreement that would provide the City with park land in District 17.
  • Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place in virtual format on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include amending Madison General Ordinances to clarify various underground and site parking requirements, as well as development-related requests in Districts 4, 16, and 19.
  • Transportation Commission: The Transportation Commission meeting will take place in virtual format on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include approving the State / Municipal Agreement for Transportation Alternatives Program Projects for the Capital City Path Extension and the West Towne Path Extension, a discussion of e-bike speed on shared-use paths, and a review of the Transportation Improvement Plan.

  • Learn to Nordic Walk - Tuesday, February 27, 2024What is Nordic walking? Join us at Elver Park on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM and learn what it's all about! We've partnered with Madison Nordic Ski Club (MadNorSki) for this free workshop. Participants of all ages are welcome and will explore Elver Park and learn where to hike and snowshoe in this park.
  • Learn How to Ride Metro (Meadowridge Library) - Tuesday, February 27, 2024Join us on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to learn how to use Metro Transit’s fixed route city bus service. Topics include using Google Maps, the Transit app, and other digital options; paper schedules and phone service; and discounted fare options. Metro employees will answer your questions about bus travel and provide one-on-one assistance in English and Spanish.
  • MPD Community Academy - Thursday, February 29, 2024The Madison Police Department is now accepting applications for this year’s Community Academy. The program is designed to give people an understanding of the department’s values, goals, and operations. The free academy will run six consecutive Thursdays starting Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

  • Three City of Madison Golf Courses Open Today: Good news golfers! The unseasonably warm temps are allowing three of the four City of Madison Golf Courses to open today, February 25.
  • Affordable Connectivity Program23 million households nationwide rely on the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) to access reliable, affordable internet. Now is the time to let Congress know how important the ACP is to households in your community. Members of Congress and their staff are online and respond to outreach from constituents via social media. Use the sample social media posts and tag your members of Congress to let them know your organization supports renewed funding for the ACP. 
  • Chief Barnes to be inducted into Evidence-Based Policing Hall of Fame: Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes will be inducted into the Evidence-Based Policing Hall of Fame this summer. The honor is awarded to members of law enforcement who have been central to the implementation of a high-quality research in their agency.
