Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

  • Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place in virtual format on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 4:30 PM. Agenda items include submitting the appointment for the new Planning Division Director, setting the 2024 rates for the Sewer Utility and Stormwater Utility, and directing the Finance Department to issue a report analyzing City operating budgets from 2019-2024 and calling on the State Legislature to authorize local sales tax options.
  • Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place in virtual format on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include adopting the Lake Monona Waterfront Master Plan, as well as development-related requests in Districts 2, 5, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 17.
  • Transportation Commission: The Transportation Commission meeting will take place in virtual format on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include the 2023 Transportation Annual Report, a review and feedback of multiple Public Works transportation projects, and a 2025 budget outlook.
  • Housing Strategy Committee: The Housing Strategy Committee meeting will take place in virtual format on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include amending Madison General Ordinances to allow Accessory Dwelling Units for properties with up to eight dwelling units and remove owner-occupancy requirement for ADUs, as well as combining the duties of the Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee and the Housing Strategy Committee into the newly formed Housing Policy Committee.

  • Habitat Homeowner Readiness Part 2 - Tuesday, March 26, 2024: Join us for this two-part series to learn all about homebuyer education and set your future up for success. The Habitat Homeownership Readiness Class will cover setting goals, budgeting, debt, credit, types of mortgages, and Habitat homeowner qualifications. This event is in collaboration with UW Extension.
  • Learn to Nordic Walk, Saturday, March 30What is Nordic walking? Join us at Door Creek Park on Saturday, March 30, and learn what it's all about! We've partnered with Madison Nordic Ski Club (MadNorSki) for this free workshop. Participants of all ages are welcome and will explore Door Creek Park and learn where to hike and snowshoe in this park.

  • Madison Parks Open House: Park & Open Space Plan - Thursday, April 4, 2024: Madison Parks is updating its Park and Open Space Plan (POSP) and seeking input from area residents. The purpose of the POSP is to guide and inform public park policies and park facility decisions in the city of Madison.  Stop to learn more about the project on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Vel Phillips Memorial High School, 201 S Gammon Rd, Wisconsin Community Room.
  • JustDane 50th Anniversary Celebration - Thursday, April 11, 2024: JustDane is excited to be celebrating 50 years of advocacy in the community and invites you to join the festivities. The evening will begin with live jazz music and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a celebration featuring a presentation from Father Boyle and Homeboys of Homeboy Industries (https://homeboyindustries.org/). Based in Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries is the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. They provide hope and job training for formerly gang involved and previously incarcerated people so they can redirect their lives and become contributing members of society.
  • Earth Day Challenge - Saturday, April 20, 2024: Celebrate Earth Day with your neighbors and friends by volunteering to clean up your local park! Join this community-wide volunteer effort to make a difference. Earth Day Challenge Projects are held throughout the city.
