COVID-19 Update
postedSara Alvarado shared something lovely on Facebook:
It’s actually physical distancing. Not social distancing. We decrease the physical touching and actually increase the creative ways we can touch each other’s hearts and spirits and stay in deep community connection. Stay social! We can and will continue to be “social” to help and support each other emotionally, relationally, and psychologically through our social channels and innovative ways.
So true!
Here is an excellent list of resources pulled together by Lisa Grueneberg, the intrepid chair of DMNA's Communications Committee:
COVID-19 Mutual Aid Resources and Opportunities to Help
Lisa adds:
These resources are all accessed on-line. Keep in mind that although you have email and a way to access them, your neighbor may not, or just may not be aware they are available. It is important to reach out (ring their doorbell, drop a note in their door, or call their phone) to check on those and offer help personally. Going to the store? Offer to pick things up for them. If nothing else, they will know that you are thinking about them, and that is also reassuring in these times of physical isolation.
Lastly, some sobering words shared by my friend, James Luscher:
US is at day-10 with over 2,000 cases - in 15 days (day-25) US is projected to have over 50,000 cases ... etc. ... unless we can "bend the curve down" with strict preventive measures like South Korea (Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong).
Follow James on Facebook for more poignant insights about our current moment.
Be well. Be strong.
