The City Needs Your Input

posted

Hi Everyone.

Your voice matters. Your input is important.

The Board of Police and Fire Commissioner of the City of Madison (PFC) is seeking input from the broader community about the professional experiences and characteristics that should be considered in hiring the next police chief.  Click here for more information.

The Truman Olson survey is live and ready for you to offer input about this vital mixed-use project combining 150 units of affordable housing with a full-service grocery store serving South Madison.  Click here for more information about the project, and click here for a direct link to the survey.

The Madison Library Board will be meeting tomorrow evening to vote on budget recommendations that will impact the Monroe Street Library.  As I've stated elsewhere, it's apparent the clientele served by the Monroe Street branch has a greater degree of resilience in terms of being able absorb cuts in services.  However, while I agree Monroe Street should shoulder more than its share of the overall burden of budget cuts, I do not believe it's necessary for this branch to close.

I share the concern that if Monroe Street were to close, it will likely never reopen. Therefore, I support Monroe Street reducing its hours down to two or three days per week, not complete closure.  I encourage you to let your thoughts be known. Emails to mpllibraryboard@madisonpubliclibrary.org need to be received by noon on Thursday in order for the Board to have time to read.

Voice is definitive of participatory democracy. Please speak up and let yours be heard.

Stay safe. Be well. Be kind.
