Snow Emergency, Family Definition Policy Community Meetings

Hi Everyone,

A snow emergency remains in effect for the City of Madison tonight, January 30.

When parking your vehicle this evening, please choose off-street parking options. Overnight crews are again working on clearing snow from roadways that has been blocked by parked cars during previous attempts at plowing snow back to the curb.

If you cannot find an off-street option, everyone in the City of Madison must follow alternate side parking rules again this evening. This includes those in all of District 13 who park within the Snow Emergency Zone.

Parking on the Street Tonight

Vehicles parked on the street tonight (Monday, January 30 into the early morning of Tuesday, January 31) should be on the ODD house-numbered side of the street between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Violations of the alternate side parking rules are punishable by a fine of $60 throughout the entire City of Madison.

Violators may also be towed. If a vehicle is towed, an additional towing fee will be added to the parking ticket.

Follow All Posted Parking Rules, Too

The Streets Division will also be using posted daytime parking restrictions to help clear snow. You must follow those posted rules and the alternate side parking rules.

Failure to follow any parking rule may result in your vehicle being ticketed and potentially towed.

Family Definition Community Information Meetings

Building Inspection staff will be hosting two community informational meetings about the proposed legislation to revise the family definition in our zoning code. These meetings are intended to provide information to community members about the proposal and to answer questions about it.

The staff analysis in my mind provides an incomplete review of the origins of our current policy and offers very limited analysis about potential economic impacts.
