New Grocery Store Neighorhood Meeting, Activities at The Glen, July 4th Parade

posted

Hi Everyone,

Chief among the updates this week is a reminder about the community meeting this Wednesday:

New Grocery Store Meet Up

The new grocery store on S. Park St. is scheduled to open by the end of the year. (In the meantime, the plan is for Pick 'n Save to remain open so that South Madison residents are not faced with a gap in grocery services.)  A neighborhood meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 28 at the Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St.  from 5:30 to 7pm. Kristi Maurer, the owner of Madison Urban Market, will present her vision for the store. Residents are encouraged to attend and offer feedback. I plan on being there and hope you will join me as well.

Activities at The Glen

  • Explore the beauty of The Glen Golf Park every Monday morning this summer, from sunrise until 8:00 am. Enjoy a stroll, get in your morning workout, walk your leashed dog or just take in The Glen scenery every Monday through August 28. Visitors will likely see golf equipment running, but no tee times are scheduled during this time. Do please keep out of prairie areas.
  • Barre3 at The Glen, Wednesday, June 28, 2023: Join Madison's barre3 and Madison Parks Foundation on fairway #1 at The Glen Golf Park for a heart-pumping, joy-filled workout.
  • Live at The Glen: DJ Pain 1 Hip Hop Dance Party, Friday, June 30, 2023: It's a dance party at The Glen! Staring around 7:00 pm, come move to the music of beat-master DJ Pain 1, a Madison-born Multi Platinum producer and world-touring DJ. DJ Pain 1 has produced for artists such as 50 Cent, Schoolboy Q, Ludacris, Lil Baby, Public Enemy, and Nipsey Hussle, and has been featured at numerous Dane Dance events. DJ Pain 1 will share his artistic talent to create a free Hip Hop dance party on the patio at The Glen Golf Park.

July 4 Celebrations

There are several legal and licensed fireworks celebrations taking place this coming weekend. Reminder: Shooting off fireworks without a permit is illegal and potentially upsetting to pets and vets.

In addition, there are a number of neighborhood parades. For example, the Dudgeon-Monroe neighborhood parade is back this year -- click here for details:

Concerts on the Square Starts This Wednesday

The Capitol Square comes alive for six consecutive Wednesdays during the summer months with music from the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. FREE and open to the public, grab a blanket, a picnic basket, and your family and friends for this Madison tradition!

Take care and stay safe,
