Dempsey/Davies/Maher & St. Paul/Ohio/Jackson Project Updates - 12/8/21

I wanted to share two timely updates impacting street reconstruction projects in the Lake Edge and SASY neighborhoods.

Dempsey Road, Davies Street, Maher Avenue Reconstruction

An update has been posted to the Dempsey/Davies/Maher reconstruction project. One important point is that the proposal to run stormwater through Lake Edge Park that was mentioned in my previous blog post is no longer being considered as a preferable alternative was found.

This was originally scheduled to be on the Board of Parks Commissioners meeting this evening, but will no longer be considered. Also, the project limits have been updated to exclude Maher Avenue from the 2022 project. This will give additional time for staff to explore innovative design alternatives that ensure a safe and comfortable walking environment while also minimizing negative impact to trees and gardens.

St. Paul Avenue, Ohio Avenue, Talmadge Street, Jackson Street, Lafollette Avenue Reconstruction

A project update was also posted to this SASY-area project yesterday. Following the neighborhood meetings last week, staff have incorporated much of the comments into an updated design, including speed humps on St. Paul Avenue. This will be presented to the Transportation Commission tonight for feedback and a recommendation.
