Winter storm update

Here's an update on city services for Friday, December 21:

• Please stay home if at all possible today. Many schools and businesses are closed.
• Madison Metro will not operate today. Metro expects to run a normal Saturday schedule tomorrow.
• Many residential streets have not yet been plowed. Please be patient, as crews have had to make as many as six passes on some streets due to the heavy wet snow. Obviously this means the overall plowing operation takes a lot longer. In addition, blowing and drifting snow is impacting many streets.
• The normal Friday refuse and recycling collection will take place today. Try to place your carts where they are accessible to the trucks but will not interfere with plowing. Ideally this is at the end of your driveway but not in the street.
• You can get frequent updates on many city services by signing up for email lists at http://my.cityofmadison.com/
