Crestwood polling place moving to John Muir

posted

The polling place for ward 87 is moving from Crestwood School to John Muir School, starting with the April 4th election (map).

The Crestwood location has had several challenges, including insufficient space, disabled accessibility, parking, room temperature...if you vote there, you know. The school has been gracious in hosting the polls for many years, but their facilities are limited. Muir has offered us a nice-sized classroom right off the main entrance, and on-street parking is close and generally plentiful. The street is much easier to cross than Old Sauk.

I've been working on finding a new location for several years, and John Muir was an obvious choice, since it was a polling place until 2012. But nothing panned out until now.

On this blog and via signs at the polling place on primary election day last week, I asked for feedback on this potential change. The messages I've received have been 100% in favor of moving to Muir.

The city council will vote on the change of location on March 7. If you have feedback you'd like to share on this proposal, please let me know.

A big thank you to the staff at John Muir and to MMSD for being accommodating.
