Resignation from the council

posted

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

With sadness, I want to let you know that I am resigning my position as your District 19 Alder. I will continue to serve until the Council appoints a successor, or August 8, whichever comes first.

I have accepted a new job that will require my full attention, leaving insufficient time to effectively serve the city.

Serving you and our city for eleven years has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I can look back with tremendous pride at the large and small accomplishments I have been a part of. The best moments have been when I've been able to work with the many dedicated people in our community to move an initiative forward, whether it's improving safety and aesthetics by rebuilding University Avenue, working with neighbors on development issues, or getting new bike facilities and traffic signals installed.

The Council president will shortly begin soliciting applications for appointment to the remainder of my term (until the next election in April). If you live in District 19 and are interested in finding out more about the role, please contact me.

Thank you all for this journey.

Mark C.
