Stormwater Ordinance ChangesLast night at the Common Council Executive Committee meeting, the City's Engineering department gave a preview of proposed upcoming changes to the City's Stormwater ordinances. These changes are part of the City's response to the flooding on August 20, 2018 and the increase of large storms. If adopted in the Spring, they will increase flood mitigation requirements for new development in the City of Madison. The City can't just mitigate flooding on its own and will need the help of private property owners. Combined with the City's efforts, these new regulations should help reduce the effect of future storms. The City has been meeting with developers to inform them of these upcoming changes. Throughout the next few months, the City will continue outreach to both the development community and the public. I will share updates and future opportunities to learn more and contribute feedback.
