More on the Benefits of Urban Trees

posted

The images in this blog post summarize the scientific efforts of Dr. Michael Notaro, Director of the Nelson Institute for Climatic Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his son, Hayden.  What they confirmed is that trees and urban forests are a critical weapon in fighting the adverse effects of climate change and a warming planet. Thank you for reaching out to share your study with me, Michael and Hayden, and for giving me permission to share it with the larger Madison community.

Description of study and corresponding graphs, showing how 3 markers of the heat island effect are favorable in areas within the Sauk Creek Greenway, where trees are abundant, compared to areas where trees are less prevalent.

Congratulations, Hayden, on your efforts to understand and educate people about the benefits of trees. You are changing the world one study at a time.
