It has been an honor to serve you

posted

Today, there will be a press release about my resignation from the City of Madison Common Council, effective January 10, 2024.

Some of you know that my family has been dealing with a serious health issue that arose right around the time of the election and which has led to some significant changes in our lives. I have worked hard to try to balance our new reality with my responsibilities as your representative on the Common Council, but I am no longer able to do so.

I will be using the next several weeks to continue advocating for residents, following up with residents on some outstanding questions, setting up requested neighborhood meetings, and organizing things for the next person who is appointed to fill the role until the April 2025 election. Details for submitting applications for consideration by the Common Council will be out soon. I hope some of you will consider applying. I particularly hope that someone with a passion for environmental conservation, fighting climate change, and protecting Madison’s incredible lakes and other natural resources will consider stepping into this role.

It has been a great honor to serve you and serve alongside my colleagues on the Common Council over the past nine months.

Warm regards,

Kristi
