DOWNTOWN MADISON, WI – Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) welcomes the entire community to celebrate the Lunar New Year in downtown Madison on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00 p.m. in Lisa Link Peace Park at 452 State Street. Experience traditional Chinese Lion Dancing and feed the lions to bring luck in the New Year! Downtown Madison is home to more than a dozen Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) owned and operated businesses, with many of them offering prepared specials and hosting blessings at their locations.

The BID is excited to welcome the Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association to perform traditional Lion Dancing on the stage at Lisa Link Peace Park (452 State Street). The Association provides a comprehensive study of Chinese martial arts. Members of the school have competed regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Immediately following the Lion Dance in the park, Association members will move on to provide blessings at select locations around downtown. Everyone is invited to come see the dance, feed the lions, shop along State Street and enjoy delicious food from our AAPI restaurants, including: Asian Kitchen, Chen’s Dumpling House, Delicacies of Asia, Eat Xpress, Fugu, Kung Fu Tea, Le C’s Patisserie & Tea House, Madame Chu – Culture Collectives Pop-Up, Mad Seafood Boiler, Madison Dagu Rice Noodles, Ruyi Hand Pulled Noodle, Sol’s on the Square, Taiwan Little Eats, Taste of Sichuan and Yume Sushi.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Downtown Madison! It’s a fun, safe way to shop and enjoy downtown while celebrating AAPI culture and heritage.
