Public Meeting: Mifflin Plaza Redesign

posted

The City of Madison Planning Division is hosting a public meeting to plan the redesign of Mifflin Plaza, also known as Philosopher’s Grove, adjacent to the soon to be constructed Wisconsin History Center.

Prior to construction of their new facility on the Capitol Square, the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) plans to commence demolition of the former museum in a few months. Due to their need for construction staging, the City of Madison has the opportunity to redesign the adjacent plaza space at the top of State Street along the 100 Block of West Mifflin Street. WHS will be using the plaza for its construction staging starting in May, and initial public input is encouraged about the future of the site before its closed off.

The public meeting will be on Wednesday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. outside, under the awning entrance of the former Wisconsin Historical Museum at 30 North Carroll Street. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be at Central Library, 201 West Mifflin Street, Room 301.

Please join City Planning and Design staff to share your ideas for the future of this important public space.
