Parking enforcement resumes this week, New large item pickup system

Parking

Have you noticed parking limitations haven't been fully enforced for awhile? Well, those enforcement actions are returning this week.

Beginning June 1, the City of Madison will resume enforcing all on-street parking restrictions, ending the temporary suspension of Residential Parking Permit restrictions and time limit restrictions in non-metered areas.  View the full announcement.

Large Item Pickup

The city used to have a schedule when big trucks would drive around "looking" for potential large items to pick up. As one could imagine, this used a lot of resources (staff time, gasoline), and contributed negatively to our carbon footprint. In order to build efficiencies in our system and reduce unecessary resource use and climate impact, there is a new work order system for large item disposal, and recycling is now available.

Residents should use the work order system to schedule large item collections. You can also use the work order system to purchase recycling fee stickers for items coming to the drop-off site. You only have to purchase a recycling fee sticker if the item you are dropping off requires one. Check the Streets Division website or the Recyclopedia to learn which items have this requirement.
