Reminders: Neighborhood meeting on Speedway development THURSDAY, Glenway golf course CLOSED, COVID testing sites, free drop-in child care

posted

Hello neighbors,

A few reminders:

Tomorrow, January 6 at 5:30pm there will be an online neighborhood meeting regarding the plans for the redevelopment of 3734 Speedway Road (the former Stop-n-Go). Please register in advance for the meeting. Feel free to submit questions ahead of time, or, of course, ask what’s on your mind at the meeting. The meeting will be recorded.

At 6:30pm tomorrow, January 6, Congressman Mark Pocan will be holding a Facebook Live town hall to provide an overview of what to expect from Congress in the new year and to answer questions from his constituents. We will get through as much of the neighborhood meeting as possible by 6:30 for those who wish to drop to attend this event.

Please do NOT ski, sled, snowshoe or otherwise tread on the Glenway golf course. I realize this is a favorite site for winter activity, but the course is closed for the winter to allow the plantings to mature. We look forward to seeing the updated course and the varied park offerings at the site in the spring.

MMSD students and families can get free COVID tests at local schools. A variety of other testing sites are available around the area.

For those who need child care while students are out of school or virtual (students must be well and not quarantining from a close contact), the Progress Center for Black Women is offering free, drop-in child care. If you're interested in learning more please submit this brief form or give them a call at 608-467-6744.

Review the steps you can take to protect your pipes from freezing as the colder temps set in.

As always, please stay well.

Best wishes,

Regina Vidaver
