I hope you all had a wonderful week. Last week included productive meetings with the Mayor’s office and Destination Madison, as well as continued conversations around city planning, transportation, and community engagement. Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out with questions and ideas. Your input is invaluable in shaping our collective work.

Meeting and Event Highlights

  • Landmarks Commission: Monday, August 18 at 5:00 p.m. (virtual). Topics include requests and reviews in Districts 2, 6, and 12.

  • Transportation Transformation on Wilson Street Corridor Ribbon Cutting: Celebrate with the City on Wednesday, August 20 at 9:00 a.m. at the plaza near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Wilson Street.

Updates and Notices

  • Goodman Pool remains open daily (weather permitting) through Sunday, August 24.
  • Be prepared for weekend storms – flash flooding could affect road conditions.
  • Street closures starting Monday, August 18:
    • W Badger Road (westbound) and N Rusk Avenue (southbound) for roadway and shared-use path construction.
    • E Doty Street (from MLK Jr. Blvd to Pinckney St.) for asphalt repair.
  • Nakoma Road Project Updates: Start date shifted to Wednesday, August 27. Full closure from Tumalo Trail to Manitou Way.
  • Triangle Redevelopment Groundbreaking – A transformational downtown project has officially broken ground.
  • Wisconsin Election Commission Orders – The City Clerk’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and accurate elections.

Announcements & Community Notes

  • A new textile exhibition, “Southern White Amnesia” by Zak Foster, is now showing at the Central Library.

Parks Alive Dates!

Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music and free food. Events are held in parks across the city and throughout the summer. Connect with your neighbors and engage with your community at a Parks Alive event near you! Events start at 5:00 p.m.
