Budget Engagement Sessions
postedDear District 9 Constituents:
In April, I was honored to be elected to represent you and District 9 on the Common Council. Since being sworn in on April 15th, I have been getting to know my fellow alders, learning more about city operations, getting familiar with the work of various committees and commissions, and addressing problems for individual constituents.
In the future, I will have much more information to share with you about city government, but now I just want to highlight one important topic: the budget.
The city has started its multi-step process for developing a budget for 2026. The annual process involves city agencies, the Finance Committee, and the Common Council. In addition, city staff are going to hold five public meetings to inform you and hear your views on city priorities, services, and costs:
- Public Works: June 4 at Central Library, 201 W. Mifflin St.
- City Administration & Facilities: June 11 at Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Dr.
- Public Safety: June 16 at Sequoya Library, 4340 Tokay Blvd.
- Transportation: June 18 at Pinney Library, 515 Cottage Grove Rd.
- Community and Economic Development: June 24 at The Hub, 2352 S. Park St.
NOTE: All sessions are from 6:00-8:00 PM
I plan to attend these meetings, and I urge you to attend one or more as well. The budget adopted by the Common Council at the end of the process will affect your personal finances and quality of life in Madison. Please take advantage of this opportunity to engage with city staff.
Warm regards,
Joann Pritchett
