Firefighter/EMT William Robbins III

Where are you stationed?
I am at Fire Station 6 (W. Badger Road) on the 'B' shift.

What attracted you to this career?
I love to help people who are in need and might not be able to help themselves. Helping others in the community makes me feel a sense of pride, purpose, and like I am doing my part to make Madison a better place for my family and friends to live.

What were you doing prior to joining MFD?
Before joining the MFD, I was working for MMSD at Sennett Middle School for five years. While working there, I was a special education assistant for three years, and for my last two years, I was a behavior education assistant.

Why did you want to work for the Madison Fire Department?
Working for the MFD has been a goal of mine since I graduated high school in 2010. Initially, I wasn’t sure what my path to get here would look like, but after a few years at Milwaukee Area Tech and volunteering with Milwaukee Fire, my passion and love for the job grew, and I knew I’d do whatever it took to get here. Working in Madison, where I grew up, is such an unbelievable opportunity because I love this city and its amazing residents.

What has been one of the most rewarding experiences so far?
Putting on the uniform every day and helping my community is immensely rewarding. After growing up here, being able to give back and be a part of shaping Madison’s future is the opportunity of a lifetime.
