Meet Firefighter/EMT Marshall Goodrich

Where are you stationed?
Fire Station 3 (Williamson Street) on the 'B' shift

What are some unique qualities or characteristics about your territory, and how do they shape your service to the neighborhood? 
There is a very diverse crowd. You never know what type of person you're going to help next. The station feels as if it is actually part of the neighborhood over on Willy Street. 

How do you feel your previous education or work experience has prepared you for the role of firefighter for the City of Madison?
I come with a public health background, which I feel as though helped prepare me to truly appreciate and respect the diversity of what Madison is made up of. 

What do you do when you're not working at MFD? 
I like to spend my time outside of work being around friends, family, and my dogs. I have recently started skating for the MFD hockey team and hope to get more involved as my career progresses. 

Do you have a favorite book or movie that you would recommend?
I really enjoyed the book Overlook by Matt McCusker. It was a relaxing read and not like anything I had read before. It was nice to have something different from my usual nonfiction reads.
