posted
Where are you stationed?
My current station is Fire Station 10 (Troy Drive) on the 'A' shift.
What are some unique qualities or characteristics about your territory?
Being on the far north side, you cover a lot of area and have the potential for mutual aid calls. Having a territory on the outskirts of the city also means you have more time at a scene before other units arrive.
What was your first experience with a firefighter or paramedic? How did it impact your desire to pursue this career?
My earliest experience was of my father, who was a firefighter and paramedic for just shy of 27 years. He just loved the fact that he got to help people every day, and he felt like he did something worthwhile. It was a huge reason I pursued a career in firefighting and EMS.
What has been your most memorable day on the job thus far?
I think the most memorable day of my young career was the last day of Smoke Divers week in the academy. It was such a feeling of comradery and accomplishment with my other classmates, looking back on what we did.
Why did you want to work in Madison?
I wanted to work for Madison because I'm from the area and have grown to love the city and its people. Almost everyone you talk to in the department has such a sense of purpose and appreciation for what they get to do.
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
I have been to over 30 national parks, 42 states, and moved every year for the last 10 years! I am happy to be settled back home.
