43.0872354, -89.2583604
Incident Details
Firefighters responded to the 800 block of Harrington Drive for a report of a kitchen fire.
Residents of the multi-unit complex stated they heard smoke alarms and could smell smoke coming from a neighboring unit. Although the occupant of the neighboring unit wasn’t home, the occupant was able to instruct neighbors on how to access the unit. The neighbors entered, found fire on the stove, and put out the fire with an extinguisher.
Engine Co. 13 arrived shortly thereafter and checked the kitchen to confirm all fire was extinguished. They remained on scene to clear smoke from the residence.
Although the cause of the fire is unknown, firefighters suspect the cats may have jumped on the stove and turned it on. Damage was limited to the stove and microwave. The occupant was not displaced.
