Quick response contains fire in home.

Dispatch received a fire alarm monitoring call for a smoke detector activation at 5620 Lake Mendota Dr on New Year's Eve.  Engine 9 was first on scene within minutes of the call.  Engine 9 entered a smoke-filled house and verified a working fire coming from the back porch addition.  The fire was climbing the porch wall rapidly above an in-wall space heater.  With a rapid-fire attack, Engine 9 was able to achieve knock down and overhaul quickly.  No one was home at the time.  Presumed $50,000 in damages. No one was displaced.
