Garage Fire Displaces Family

A passerby reported smoke coming from an attached garage of a duplex on Milo Lane today. Madison Fire crews were dispatched at 10:05 AM, with Medic 8 and Engine 5 arriving within five minutes. Upon arrival, crews observed a light haze of smoke and discovered a fire in the garage that had spread into the attic. While the fire was being extinguished, Ladder 8 conducted a search of the residence and assisted several people, including a child, in evacuating.

No injuries were reported, and all occupants were evaluated by EMS on-site; no one required transport for further medical care. The fire was contained to one side of the duplex, and the Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
