No Refuse or Recycling Collection on December 25th or January 1st

posted

There will be no refuse or recycling collection in the City of Madison on Friday December 25th or Friday January 1st because of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

If your material is normally collected on Friday it will be collected on Monday December 28th and Monday January 4th.
Residents should be sure to get their material out to the curb on time as Street Division crews will be collecting in both the Monday and Friday refuse districts on December 28th and January 4th.  Residents should have their material out at the curb by 7 a.m.

Because of the double collection, large item collection will be reduced.  Residents are asked to hold on to large items until after the holidays if possible.

The Streets Division's offices and drop off sites will also be closed on December 25th and January 1st.  For additional information visit the Streets Division’s web page at www.cityofmadison.com/streets.

The Streets Division will conduct regular refuse and recycling collection on Christmas Eve Thursday December 24th and New Year’s Eve Thursday December 31st.  Crews will only be working a half day on the 24th and 31st so be sure to have your material out by 7 a.m.  Our drop off sites will also be open until 11 a.m. on the 24th and 31st.

Holiday Recycling Tips

Madison residents are reminded that they can recycle gift wrap, gift boxes and non photo greeting cards in their green carts.  The only exceptions are tissue paper and foil gift wrap.
“Residents should be sure to remove ribbons and bows before recycling their gift wrap,” Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said.
Holiday lights can be recycled at our drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Av.  The sites are now open winter hours M-F from 7:30 until 3 p.m.
