Madison Parks Foundation Announces Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation Matching Gift to Support Free Pool Admission Scholarships

In response to the Madison Parks Foundation’s announcement of a $40,000 donation to Goodman Pool admission scholarships, and to inspire the community to support these efforts, the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation has generously committed a dollar for dollar match towards admission scholarships.

With decreased support this year due to the impacts of COVID-19, the Madison Parks Foundation is calling for the community to support the pool admissions scholarships, which is one way the Foundation is helping with the efforts to make our parks more inclusive and accessible to the entire community. Thanks to the generous support of the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation all gifts received between July 1, 2020 and August 31, 2020 will be doubled.

“It is a priority for the Madison Parks Foundation to support inclusion and accessibility to our parks. This is why we have committed $40,000 to go towards pool admissions scholarships which will support approximately 60% of the anticipated costs,” said Stephanie Franklin, Executive Director of the Madison Parks Foundation. Since the beginning of the Goodman Pool’s operation in 2006, the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation has generously supported swimming lessons, and free and reduced admissions each year. The goal is to make the Goodman Pool as accessible as possible to the entire community. “We are so grateful for the support of the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation with this matching gift opportunity to inspire our community to give, allowing even more children access to the Goodman Pool” Franklin continued.

While the traditional pool experience will look a bit different, we appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as staff work through the details to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit to the Goodman Pool this summer. To allow space for adequate physical distancing and time for proper sanitization, Madison Parks is limiting the number of guests during 2-hour swimming sessions. Admission is reduced to $3 per person, per session. An opening date announcement is anticipated soon.
