Highlighting our shared commitment to excellence in community and civic engagement

Join District 17 Alder Sabrina Madison, Sandburg Principal Lori Lopez, and Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway for a district-wide engagement dinner at Sandburg Elementary School. This is the perfect opportunity to engage with residents across district 17 around topics that are important to our area of the city including: safer streets, sheltering unhoused community members, The Imagination Center at Reindahl Park, small business development and more! We’ll also recognize community members, and organization and business leaders who have shown a commitment to excellence in community and civic engagement in the district.

Connect with your neighbors, share ideas with City and district leaders, and dive deep into the inspiring progress we're making toward achieving social and economic mobility right here in our district.

Enjoy delicious food, engaging conversations, and great music. Plus take home information about local resources that may be helpful for your household.

Jeremiah A Covington in recognition of his exceptional service as a vital link between the Sandburg School community, students, and their families. He embodies the core qualities of a devoted and compassionate resource leader.

Kaziah Anderson, Noelle Brusky, Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores in recognition of their leadership in creating and leading MOMs, a grassroots, community-based group of mothers who show up to East High School in Madison, Wisconsin every. single. school. day to help foster the school community our kids deserve! MOMs creates a nonviolent environment by being present, by creating relationships, by de-escalating conflict, and by bringing community volunteers together to make a difference, right away, on the ground.

Porchlight, Inc. in recognition of their exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to partnerships, and outstanding collaboration in pioneering holistic solutions that break down barriers and empower individuals experiencing homelessness.

Catalyst for Change in recognition for their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Dane County. Their innovative approach, which prioritizes meaningful connections, trauma-informed interventions, and harm reduction strategies, is reshaping homeless services and making a significant impact on the journey to end homelessness.

Joe Duperre Jr. + Done Donager, two outstanding business leaders in recognition for exemplifying compassion and dedication, as they came together to craft comprehensive solutions that address the critical needs of homeless individuals in our district. Their unwavering commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive community has had a profound and lasting impact on the direction of serving those most in need.

Lori Lopez, Principal of Sandburg Elementary School, in recognition of her exceptional leadership. Her unwavering support, compassionate guidance, and holistic approach to education have made her a true community leader, enriching the lives of students and families alike. Lori's dedication to fostering an inclusive and caring environment is truly commendable.

Sgt. Bernie Gonzalez "In recognition of Sgt. Gonzalez's unwavering dedication to public safety and exemplary actions on 9/25/23, which resulted in the seizure of four firearms and the successful apprehension of suspects involved in a shots fired incident, exemplifying his commitment to keeping our community safe."​​

Acompañe a la Concejal del Distrito 17 Sabrina Madison, a la Directora de Sandburg Lori Lopez, y a la Alcaldesa Satya Rhodes-Conway a una cena de participación a nivel distrital en la Escuela Elemental Sandburg. ¡Esta es la oportunidad perfecta para interactuar con los residentes de todo el Distrito 17 acerca de temas que son importantes en nuestra área de la ciudad incluyendo: calles más seguras, albergar a miembros de la comunidad que no tienen vivienda, el Centro de Imaginación en el Parque Reindahl, el desarrollo de pequeños negocios y mucho más!
