January 12 Trash and Recycling Collection Incomplete; Make-up Information to Be Announced

The City of Madison Streets Division were unable to complete trash and recycling collection for residents that have a January 12, 2024 scheduled collection day due to weather conditions. 

At this time, a make-up collection schedule for the homes missed is to be determined.

Neighborhood Detail of West Side Area not Completed for Trash & Recycling Collection

The Friday collection day has two parts, split by the Beltline. South of the Beltline, the Friday collection day is west of Whitney Way, north of Raymond Rd, and east of McKenna Blvd. And north of the Beltline, the Friday collection day is primarily west of Whitney Way, east of the Beltline, and south of the city limits.  The Friday area also includes the Spring Harbor Neighborhood that is between University Avenue and Lake Mendota.

Streets Division staff will be reviewing operator records and GPS logs to determine what areas were not serviced and next steps will be decided. Homes that were serviced by operators will not be collected again during the make-up round.

Below is also a map that is that shows the area where trash and recycling collection that was not completed.  The shaded dark blue-gray area on the map below is the west side Friday collection area:

East Side Operations Mostly Completed; Make-up Schedule Pending for Oak Park Terrace Community

Residents on Madison’s east side that have a Friday trash and recycling collection day, which are neighborhoods north of Commercial Ave, northwest of East Washington Ave, and west of Highway 51/Stoughton Rd were mostly completed as scheduled.  

The only area that was unable to be serviced was the Oak Park Terrace community. 

The Friday collection day for east side Streets Division operations are generally considered to be Madison’s north side. These are homes near the Dane County airport, Warner Park, Cherokee Park, and so on. 

There will be no make-up solid waste collections for most of this area, except for the Oak Park Terrace community.
