City of Madison Honored as a Tree City USA for 35 Years

posted

Madison’s first year recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA was 1989.

We have received the award again this year, making it our 35th year being Tree City USA, and it is the 19th year we have received the Growth Award.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation with these awards,” said Ian Brown, City of Madison Forester.  “Our dedicated team of professional arborists, many of which are ISA Certified Arborists, maintain approximately 100,000 trees along Madison roadways.  We are proud stewards of this remarkable community asset.”

Forester Ian Brown continued, “The diverse and vibrant canopy we all share is a direct result of the ongoing commitment of Madison prioritizing trees for decades.  And it is thanks to passion and support Madison residents show for trees we can continue to grow our urban forest and keep it healthy and resilient for generations to come.  And are proud to reflect these Madison values in our work every day.”
