Walking Tour to Gather Business Feedback in Southeast, Southwest Madison

Teams of local business and local leaders will take part in a walking tour of the Southeast and Southwest Madison business community on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
The business walk is being organized as the City of Madison looks for business input as part of three plans that are currently in progress: the Planning Division’s Southeast and Southwest Area Plans and the Economic Development Division’s Economic Development Strategy.
The goal of these face-to-face visits is to build a stronger relationship between the business community and local government officials by offering a direct point of contact and more opportunities for business owners to share their needs and goals. Additionally, these tours allow local leaders to identify and assist companies that may be at risk, helping foster a more prosperous business climate overall.
Over the course of three hours, teams made up of City leaders and small business supporters will visit up to 300 businesses on Madison’s Southeast and Southwest sides. The teams will gather responses from business owners and managers on a variety of questions, including what can be done to improve business in those areas, what they like about doing business in the City of Madison, and how their individual businesses are faring.
The responses will be compiled into a simple, easy-to-read report that City decision makers will be able to use to help strengthen the local business community and identify areas of potential growth.
The tour is being organized by Madison-based Blueprint Events.
