posted

MADISON, Wis. – Officers involved in Amigos en Azul assisted more than 30 families at this week’s car seat clinic.

Officers checked to make sure car seats were installed properly and provided one to families free of charge if needed. In all, 45 car seats were inspected.

“We want to make sure every child is traveling as safely as possible in our community,” said Detective Gracia Rodriguez with the Madison Police Department.

The car seat clinic featured more than 15 resource group tables, free food and kid-friendly activities such as face painting. Families also were able to interact with the UWPD’s Mounted Patrol and the Fitchburg Police Department’s K-9 units.

Amigos en Azul was created by MPD and is a collaborative effort of Dane County law enforcement agencies to dissolve cultural barriers, build partnerships and open lines of communication between police and the Latino Community.

This week’s clinic was hosted by Amigos en Azul, Fitchburg Police Department, Fitchburg Fire Rescue, UW Health Kids and Safe Kids South Central Wisconsin.
