Leaf Collection Suspended for 2025; Curbside Collection Resumes Spring 2026
Guaranteed curbside leaf collection has been suspended for the season.
The next curbside leaf pickup residents can expect will be the spring of 2026. Springtime yard waste set out dates for your home will be posted to our website early next year.
We understand that this is disappointing news to many residents, especially those that had a set out date of November 30, 2025, and those who were hoping for a “last chance” pickup, too. The weather this year, however, had other plans for the late fall season.
Why did leaf pickup change from “delayed” to “suspended”?
The snowstorm of November 29, 2025, was significant. It has created multiple days’ worth of clean-up work that will require staff to be diverted from leaf pickup duties.
On top of that, future forecasts show a likelihood of more snow in the days ahead.
The same people that pickup leaves are the same people that drive the snowplows, and responding to snowstorms is a higher priority.
Adding to all the snow is the frigid temperatures we will see. The cold will freeze the snow and leaf piles, making collecting them with our equipment practically impossible.
Drop-off Sites Resume Posted Hours on December 1, 2025
Streets Division drop-off sites are closed on Sunday, November 30, 2025, to help with the snowstorm response.
The South Point and Sycamore drop-off sites will resume their posted hours on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Is the leaf pickup really done for 2025? What if…
If there is a prolonged period of favorable weather before Christmas that allows us the time to perform leaf collection, we will try. We will announce this opportunity before we begin. However, to be clear, residents should not count on this unlikely circumstance.
