Statement From the Office of The Independent Police Monitor Regarding an Ongoing Investigation
In the interest of transparency and in response to significant public concern, the Office of the Independent Police Monitor is issuing a statement to confirm that a review is underway regarding a recent police encounter.
This matter presents unique circumstances due to the role of the complainant and the proximity of that role to the police oversight system itself. As a result, it is particularly important that this review be conducted with independence, care, and transparency to maintain public confidence in the oversight process. This matter is currently under active investigation.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the Office of the Independent Police Monitor will take appropriate action and, consistent with applicable law and process, will provide appropriate information regarding outcomes and any recommendations issued.
The Office of the Independent Police Monitor remains committed to transparency, accountability, and fairness, both to the community and to those involved. Further updates will be provided when appropriate.
