Madison Fire Now Hiring for Firefighter/EMT Positions

YOU can be a Madison Firefighter/EMT! No prior experience needed.

The Madison Fire Department seeks motivated individuals who are passionate about community service to join the team. This opportunity only comes around once every two years. 

Now is the time to apply! 

To be considered for employment as a Madison Firefighter/EMT, you must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application (there is no maximum age limit). You must also possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license at the time of application. 

Ideal candidates will have effective communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic, the ability to work as a team member, and effective problem-solving skills. Honesty and integrity are core values of the Madison Fire Department, and we seek individuals who will serve the community with honor. Learn more about what we look for.

Successful candidates will participate in a rigorous academic and physical training program. They will graduate the 23-week Recruit Academy with all necessary EMS and firefighting certifications to begin responding to emergency calls as a Firefighter/EMT.

Practice Your Interviewing Skills

The Madison Fire Department and Madison College will host two interview workshops for prospective firefighter/EMTs candidates. Participants will learn about job interview best practices and practice crucial interviewing skills. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a mock job interview and receive personalized feedback.

Two workshops will be offered. Please only sign up for one.

This event is for anybody actively pursuing a career in fire/EMS or those who have a strong interest in fire/EMS and wish to learn more. We encourage people of color, women, LGBTQIA+, and veterans to attend.
