Your Final Spring Yardwaste Collection Begins Soon; Get Your Final Spring Set-out Date Online
Every neighborhood has just one more spring yard waste set out date. This will be the final spring yard waste collection by the Streets Division for 2026. Curbside collection will return in the fall.
When you should put out your yard waste for your final spring pickup depends on where you live.
Get your set-out date from our yard waste website.
What do we mean by "yard waste"?
Yard waste is leaves, weeds, grass clippings, and other plant material you rake or pull from your lawns or gardens.
Not Yard Waste: Branches, limbs, and sticks cut from your trees, shrubs, and bushes is brush, not yard waste. Brush has a different pickup schedule.
How do you set out yard waste for collection?
Place the leaves and yard waste at the street edge or on the terrace.
Do not place yard waste into the street.
Please keep the material at least four feet from obstructions where possible. Obstructions like street signs, utility poles, mailboxes, trees, and parked cars interfere with collection.
If you choose to bag your yard waste, please choose compostable paper leaf and lawn bags. Keep them open so crews can see what is inside.
If you choose to use other bags, that is acceptable. You will also need to keep them open. Keep in mind crews may need to rip or slice open plastic bags to get your yard waste out. They will need to leave the split bags behind at the curb.
Do not mix yard waste piles and brush piles together. Crews will not collect mixed up piles. Brush is a separate collection.
What should you do with yard waste when collection is over?
Take yard waste to one of the three Streets Division drop-off sites.
Check the drop-off site website to learn their hours and locations before loading your vehicle.
Also, consider composting your leaves and yard waste at home.
Yard waste and leaves are banned from trash and recycling carts. Do not place your yard waste material into the carts.
Why does yard waste collection end in the spring?
The crews collecting yard waste need to move onto other duties during the summer months, like road repair.
Collection Returns in the Fall
Curbside pickup for leaves and yard waste will return in the fall.
Your fall set out dates will be published to the yard waste website later this year.
Fall set-out dates are typically finalized and published sometime after the August student move out. You can expect them to be available on the website likely in late August or early September.
