Traffic Pattern Changes for Next Phase of John Nolen Drive Reconstruction
Overnight on Monday, July 13, into Tuesday morning, July 14, the John Nolen Drive reconstruction project will move into its next major phase as traffic shifts from the existing northbound roadway onto the newly constructed southbound lanes.
To complete the traffic shift safely, crews will begin work at midnight, with the new traffic configuration expected to be in place by 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.
As part of this phase, the Capital City Trail will close between Lakeside Street and Broom Street. Trail users will be detoured around Monona Bay. Please refer to the attached detour map for the designated route.
Details to Note:
- The new traffic configuration and Capital City Trail detour are expected to remain in place until approximately July 2027 while reconstruction continues.
- The Broom Street/John Nolen Drive intersection will remain open to all turning movements throughout this phase of construction.
- North Shore Drive will remain closed for at least two additional weeks.
Additional information about the project, including construction updates, traffic impacts, detour information, and instructions for signing up to receive email updates, is available on the John Nolen Drive Project webpage.
