Pick Up An Artist-Designed Yard Sign to Celebrate the Opening of the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park

posted

MADISON, WI – Residents on the northeast side of Madison are invited to pick up a free yard sign from three Madison Public Library locations beginning September 1, 2026.

Yard Sign design created by artist Jinx King celebrating the opening of the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park.

The yard signs celebrate the forthcoming opening of Madison Public Library's tenth library location, the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park, later this month at 1814 Parkside Dr., Madison, WI 53704. The multifunctional library and parks pavilion will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony from 3-4pm on Friday, September 25 followed by grand opening activities from 4-8pm on Friday and 10am – 4pm on Saturday, September 26, including a movie in the park, wild rumpus, nature walk, storytime, live music, food trucks, art activities, and more. A full schedule is available at madpl.org/imaginationopening.

Yard signs are a fun way to let your neighbors know that there's a new library coming to your neighborhood and show that you're a library supporter. Designed by artist Jinx King, the signs ‘center imagination' while also leaning into the knowledge and empowerment you gain when you get a library card.

Artist Jinx King (they/she) founded their own business, Hijinx Mixed Media, in 2023 and is also part of the Polka! Press artist collective. She attended UW-Madison Whitewater where she received a BFA in graphic design, but has since gained experience in painting, sculpture, fiber arts, and printmaking. Over the past several years, King has exhibited and led workshops at Madison Public Library and was excited to bring their experience to a project centering imagination.

Imagination is a powerful force. Alone, it may seem dreamy or abstract but when paired with opportunity, resources, and community... that's when the magic really happens! Together with our minds and our hearts we can imagine a brighter world and make it come to life.

I hope this fun and colorful artwork sparks creativity, gets people excited about the joys of learning, and makes people think about how to achieve a respectful coexistence within the natural world.

A limited supply of yard signs is available. Pick one up beginning September 1, 2026, from Hawthorne, Lakeview, or Pinney Libraries while supplies last
