Volunteer Workday | Planting
Event Description
Help improve Madison Parks by assisting with a general planting workday at Junction Ridge Park. Volunteers will help install native plants, flowers, shrubs, or other vegetation depending on the project. Parks and local volunteers will provide the plants, tools, and instructions, and no previous planting experience is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Prepare planting areas and dig holes
- Place plants and fill soil around them
- Water new plantings
- Spread mulch when needed
- Help with general cleanup
Qualifications
- No previous planting experience necessary
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Able to bend, kneel, dig, and perform light to moderate physical activity
- Willing to follow instructions from volunteer leaders
What to Wear, Bring & Expect
- Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed toe shoes
- Wear clothing that can get dirty
- Bring a water bottle and work gloves if you have them
- Parks will provide plants, tools, and project instructions
