Temporary Street Closures for S Broom and W Doty Streets

Starting on Monday October 5, Speedway Sand and Gravel will begin constructing public utility improvements for the private development project at S Broom Street and W Doty Street. Work will occur on both streets during this project and will requiring lane closures and alternate traffic patterns. Pedestrian access will always be maintained on one side of the street during this project

Details

Phase 1: S Broom Street (approximately October 5 – October 11)

• The right lane will be closed north of the intersection with Doty Street during off-peak hours.
• This work is scheduled to take one week. 
• Traffic will be shifted into the left lane.
• The Metro Transit stop will be relocated to two separate locations for the full duration of the Broom Street work. There will be a temporary stop on S Broom Street south of Doty Street, as well as one on Doty Street east of S Broom Street. 
• Northbound bicycle traffic on Broom Street will be directed to use the full travel lane.
• Southbound bicycle traffic will be detoured using Main Street, Henry Street, and Doty Street.

Phase 2: W Doty Street (approximately October 12 – October 26)

• Work will begin on this section once the Broom Street work is complete.
• This work is scheduled to take two weeks. 
• Doty Street will close to eastbound traffic at the intersection with Broom Street. 
• Westbound traffic will be shifted into the typical eastbound lane. 
• Two-way access will be maintained east of the work zone. 
• Metro bus service will resume at the typical stop on S Broom Street during this time.
